Manchester City trophy parade: Pep Guardiola’s men celebrate historic domestic Treble

The Treble-winning stars of Manchester City have showed off their array of silverware to supporters on Monday evening after embarking on a victory parade throughout the city.

Pep Guardiola and his men were greeted by thousands of supporters who came out decked in club colours to witness the historic occasion.

Twelve months on from their last Premier League trophy parade, City were back with the FA Cup and Carabao Cup added to the collection and now stand as the first team in the history of English football to have claimed all three within a single campaign.

Fans of all ages and backgrounds came together, with the city of Manchester preparing for hours beforehand to create the perfect atmosphere and route.

As the audience flocked into the streets, some supporters climbed onto post-boxes and walls, searching for anything to get a vantage point and a clear glimpse of England’s all-dominating side.

Guardiola and his players could be seen on top of the bus, sipping beverages and getting into the spirit of things as the evening sun shone down.

Smiling and waving to fans, Guardiola sported a decorative flat cap in honour of the late Bernard Halford, City’s former life president.

The entire first team squad and staff were present, other than full-back Benjamin Mendy. The Frenchman is understood to have undergone an arthroscopy while in Barcelona last week, and was not able to take part.

On show also were both the Women’s FA Cup and Contintental Cup, following a magnificent campaign for the City women’s side.

At the end of the parade route, finishing at Manchester cathedral, Guardiola and his players took to a grand stage where they addressed the supporters as one.

‘This is the best run club in the world without a shadow of a doubt,’ club legend Mike Summerbee told the masses.

‘We’re talking about an incredibly successful football team, a group of players and one of the best managers the world has ever seen.

He went on to pay tribute to Vincent Kompany, who is leaving the club after many success-laden years.

‘The heart and soul of this football club is leaving, Vinnie [Kompany] is picking the right time to move on. He is someone who is amazing, an amazing player and an amazing man.’

Youngster Phil Foden dedicated City’s silverware to the fans after being part of successive trophy parades.

‘I think I need a bus pass,’ Foden joked when speaking on a live feed on the club’s Twitter account.

‘Hopefully next year we will keep winning trophies next season. You can hear the noise of the fans. This is why we win trophies, for the fans.’
