Clashes erupt after forces lay siege to Pulwama village in south Kashmir

Clashes erupted in Drabgam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday after forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO).

Greater Kashmir has learnt that the youth took to streets and clashed with the forces after the CASO was launched.

Eyewitnesses said that a group of locals resorted to stone-pelting to disrupt the CASO.

However, the forces responded by lobbing teargas shells to disperse the protesting youth.

An official said that police, army and CRPF had jointly launched the operation following specific inputs about the presence of militants there.

The search operation was going on when this report was being filed.
