Army porter dies in snow-slide along LoC in Uri

An army porter died after a snow-slide hit him in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday afternoon, reports said.

Shakil Ahmad son of Feroz Ahmad Din was injured critically after a snow slide hit him at Pinkdi Chowk along Line of Control (LoC), reported news agency GNS.

Shakil, a resident of Ajgar Nawa Uri was immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Station House officer (SHO) Uri Tabrez Khan confirmed the incident. “The slain porter was working with army’s 4 Madras,” he said, adding that the deceased was clearing snow near the army camp when the slide hit him.
