German guy suspected of 3 heists towards cash transporters arrested by way of Dutch police | Global Information

A German man suspected of taking part in three robberies that targeted money transporters has been arrested in the Netherlands.

The 60-year-old, who has not been publicly named, was detained on a European arrest warrant and German prosecutors have launched extradition proceedings.

The suspect is accused of participating in a 2018 robbery in Cologne, as well as heists at Cologne-Bonn airport and in Frankfurt in 2019.

In all three cases, the attackers fled in a car stolen in the Netherlands, set fire to it near the crime scene, and then continued in another car.

Investigators said they were able to identify a car that they allegedly used to flee back across the border.

Two guards were injured in the last two attacks and prosecutors said the suspect used a machine gun in the airport robbery.

There had been speculation that the robberies were carried out by former members of the far-left Red Army Faction group but prosecutors said their investigation did not confirm this.
