Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater sent off in Under-23s clash with Tottenham as struggles continue

Danny Drinkwater’s Chelsea struggles continued on Monday night after the former Premier League champion was sent off while playing for the club’s Under-23s team. The ex-Leicester man joined Chelsea for £35million in 2017, but has not made a Premier League appearance for the Blues since March 2018. Having failed to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge before this season following two unsuccessful loan spells with Burnley and Aston Villa in 2019/20, Drinkwater was left out of Frank Lampard’s top-flight squad list and has instead been playing with the development team to get some minutes under his belt.
