In years past people relied on their thick paper-based phone books to be able to find people. In today’s day and age many people use their cell phone as their main contact number. In fact there are many people who no longer have a land line phone. Federal regulations prohibit the wireless companies to create a log of their customer’s numbers so how do you find someone?
The answer is actually quite simple. There are many websites now that allow you to look someone up by name or by mobile telephone number. You just visit the site and type in their name and their contact information will be returned.
If you need to find someone’s information based on solely their cell phone number then you need to do what is called a reverse cell phone trace. What is this service exactly? Well, it’s really very straight forward.
All you do is use one of the people search sites and enter the number you want to look up in the search parameter field and then hit the enter button. The site will return the name and address associated with that number. Make sure to enter the entire number, including the area code.
This is the standard process for tracing a cell phone number in the United States, Canada, Dominican Republic and many countries in the Caribbean. If you are looking up an international number then you will need to enter the country code for that specific country as well. (You can of course also find the standard country codes online as well.)
Reverse phone searches like this may seem like an invasion of privacy, but they’re not. There are actually plenty of regulations and security blocks surrounding these searches. In the future the wireless companies may even be freed to create mobile phone yellow and white pages. That would allow for a free log of the numbers, but the online solution will still generally be easier.
