File: Ecu Excursion to restart with British Masters in July

Reports from the UK claim the European Tour is set to restart its season at the British Masters on 23 July, followed by four more events in England and Wales.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the British Masters in Newcastle has been flagged as the restart date for the European Tour, which has so far seen a total of 21 tournaments either suspended or postponed.

The five-week stretch in the UK will all take place behind closed doors and is deliberately being held at courses with hotels on site, which will allow the players to effectively quarantine at the course.

After the British Masters at Close House, the tour will move to the Forest of Arden near Birmingham, then on to Hanbury Manor in Hertfordshire before two consecutive tournaments at Celtic Manor in Wales.

Of the five events, only the British Masters was already on the schedule – the other four tournaments have been specially added and will each carry a purse of €1 million.

In a letter to players last week, Tour chief executive Keith Pelley announced an intention to play as many as 22 events in the remainder of the year, with the Race to Dubai winner being crowned at the DP World Championship in Dubai as scheduled in December.
